December Games Postmortem

December is wrapping up and hopefully some of us have found time to play some of these games. Feel free to edit these posts with your own feedback (once you get permission from me) but you can also comment at will if you just have responses or little thoughts.

Chow - Calvin recommended this one to me back when, still have fun with it. Feels like a play through takes a little longer time than I can usually muster, so haven't come back to it much after my initial 40 hours on it. Still find it to be a lot of fun. Multiple types of weapons, ships, crew races, difficulties, and overall strategies make this one super replayable. My main strategy tends to be to put together big shields and a strong boarding party that can take out the final bosses' guns, the rest I leave up to chance. Always devastating when I lose a crew member.

Chow - I originally started playing this one about a year ago when a coworked gifted it to me to convince me of the worthiness of roguelike games after I mentioned I had played FTL. This one I feel is a little better paced as far as how long playthroughs tend to take (1-2 hrs instead of FTLs typical 2-3 in my experience), but probably lacks a little in the areas to explore that FTL does. That said, it's a strong one that I love replaying. First time I beat the game (on normal difficulty) was the Engineer, seemed his missiles made it easier to run and gun, but I have played through the game with each of the characters at this point. Huntress is pretty much cheat codes (kiting FTW), Sniper is probably my favorite, and took me the longest to beat the game with Commando with a close second to the Enforcer. Maybe someday we'll figure out how to properly co-op play this one :(
